Bingo Trivia
Did you know that Bingo has been recognized as not only a great pastime, but also a great way to sharpen memory and thinking skills as well? Next time I forget where I left my keys, I'm going to remember to mark my calendar for the next Bingo Tuesday!
The one good thing about the summer solstice is that the blazing sun bringing us record heat starts setting a bit sooner each day!
And Joanna promises that the only heat Bingo players will be feeling on Tuesday is that generated by the exciting games being called inside the cool Bingo room accompanied by a 50/50 raffle, a special free raffle, delicious Mini Chocolate Bars at intermission and door prizes including a Bingo Dauber Bag! There was a rumor going around that she was trying to get the volunteers to don their best beachwear attire to officially welcome summer....but....although they are all involved and committed, that may be above and beyond even for them!
The Bingo Team has some special surprises in store for June 25th to celebrate National Bingo Day that falls on June 27th.....the Bingo Team always finds reasons to celebrate......more on that in next week's reminder so stay tuned. If you're not on the email list to receiver reminders on Bingo and other Encore programs, just see any Bingo volunteer to sign up.
See you Tuesday......bring a new friend, get a free dauber and
LET'S PLAY BINGO!!
Bingo Trivia
Did you know that Bingo can be traced back to 1530 Italy where it was a lottery called "Lo Giuoco del Lotto D'Italia" and is still played every Saturday to this day? Introduced in France in the late 1770's it was called "Le Lotto" played by the wealthy. The Germans started their own version in the 1800's but used it as a child's game to help students learn math, spelling and history.
79 players enjoyed Bingo on the 11th which was 31 more than last year and great for the summer.....thanks to all our regular players who are introducing new people to the most fun place to spend Tuesday afternoons!
Highlights included a free admission to Bingo Raffle, $25 Gift Card to Target, new players, some visitors, ice cream at intermission and Game #1 and Game #10 a $100 coverall plus a $50 Second Chance.
If you weren't there, mark your calendar so you don't miss another day of Bingo!
Even though summer is upon us and our winter visitors have left us for cooler temperatures, 67 players still enjoyed Bingo Tuesday on June 4th. It kicked off the "Bring A Friend And Win" promotion....simply bring a new, first time player to Bingo and automatically win a free dauber throughout the month of June!
Next, the Progressive Jackpot was WON!
And the 50/50 raffle continued to help "feed" the Treat Table which makes everyone happy!
Bingo remains the place to be on Tuesdays......remember.......
You Can't Win If You Don't Play!!
Carol greeted the players not only wearing red, white and blue, the 50/50 table was the epitome of patriotic decor as well.
Memorial Day and Troop Remembrance were clearly on display at the Treat Table as well including a thoughtfully created collage of items portraying what Memorial Day is all about.
Bingo Volunteers Jan, Suzi, Carol and Betty brought the colors to the Bingo board...
While Betty, Angie and Joan manned the Beverage table.
Caller Marta decorated the Caller table wearing a patriotic top joined by a vase full of flags......
And that we are the home of the free because of the brave.
A memorable Memorial Day to all from the Bingo Team....
Coming Tuesday, May 28th...
the Progressive "ZOO" jackpot will be $130 in 43 numbers or less plus a $100 cash prize at Game #10! Winners will receive free pens from Colony Drive Mini Storage as well.
Let's Play Bingo!!
As winter visitors return to cooler climes, Joanna and her Bingo Volunteers are planning special and "lucrative" surprises for their stalwart players who remain in the desert and brave the heat of the summer sun! They have chosen this Tuesday, May 7th to kick off the summer fun with a bang by recognizing all the special mothers in attendance with a $200 coverall, a $25 Gift Card, a 50/50, and a free admission Gift Certificate. Add to that Diamond Art donated and created by regular player Terry Sexton topped off with savory ice cream at intermission!

76 players enjoyed in the fun but many reported that they were leaving for cooler climes at the end of the week. Some showed their appreciation by leaving behind gift certificates and treats for the treat table to be used at future Bingos and even donations for the Home Delivered Meals Program. Bingo players, both year round and part time are the best!
Bingo Volunteers.....the best in the west....were treated to a "lite bite" lunch before sales commenced at 11:30 am. They were also introduced to the Bingo players and officially thanked for their excellent service and commitment to the Bingo Program. It's coordinator Joanna and these volunteers that make this amazing and crowd pleasing program so successful as was evidenced by all the applause and whistles they received from the players. Luckily this great photo was captured that day, providing a perfect update for the Bingo Home Page!
If you're a year round resident or brave summer visitor, please consider joining us every Tuesday for Bingo.....you won't be disappointed!
Let's Play Bingo!!
Totally styling in colorful bunny ears ready to wish players a Happy Easter pictured left to right above are:
Betty, Jan, Suzi, Mark, Carol, Joan and lead bunny Joanna who reported that 72 players attended Easter Bingo.
Some players joined the volunteers by donning rabbit ears while hunting for eggs under their table tops and splurging on cupcakes at intermission.
Two of Bingo's volunteers missing from the group photo were Angie (standing) and Jeanne (sitting). Early reports indicate they may have been looking for candid camera volunteer Marta who was tracking the Easter Bunny rumored to be on site somewhere in the Community Center.
As a local realtor holding the designation of Senior Real Estate Specialist, Jill is uniquely qualified to serve both senior and veteran communities. She informed the group about the upcoming "Retirements Next Step Workshop" as well as supplying more Easter Treats.......you can never have too many!
One of Mark's many other services he provides in the community is the current President of the Fountain Hills Civic and Cultural Association also known as I Love Fountain Hills. He told the group about the upcoming annual meeting of one of Fountain Hills' oldest organizations dating back to 1979 and its participation in the upcoming three day Flutter At The Fountain event. He provided colorful brochures outlining all the activities and opportunities to be included in the fun, festive and celebratory event.
