Bingo has become one of Encore's most successful and consistently attended programs. Much of this can be attributed to the dedicated team of volunteers led by Encore Board member Joanna Hernan. Bingo is held every Tuesday at the Fountain Hills Community Center. Bingo card sales begin at 11:30 am and close at 1:00 pm. Minimum admission is only $7.00 for two hours of fun. Daubers are available for $1.00 or you can bring your own.
No......they aren't coming to play....they are coming to make sure Bingo is not only a fun place to be, but a safer place as well.
Bingo Coordinator Joanna Hernan with assistance from CC Director Jennifer Lyons has arranged for fire personnel to review the basics of handling fire and medical emergencies with Bingo volunteers while waiting for first responders to arrive. CPR training will be offered at a separate session as well.
Bingo Volunteers serve Bingo players in many ways....adding safety preparedness could very well be the most important of all.
76 players enjoyed in the fun but many reported that they were leaving for cooler climes at the end of the week. Some showed their appreciation by leaving behind gift certificates and treats for the treat table to be used at future Bingos and even donations for the Home Delivered Meals Program. Bingo players, both year round and part time are the best!
Bingo Volunteers.....the best in the west....were treated to a "lite bite" lunch before sales commenced at 11:30 am. They were also introduced to the Bingo players and officially thanked for their excellent service and commitment to the Bingo Program. It's coordinator Joanna and these volunteers that make this amazing and crowd pleasing program so successful as was evidenced by all the applause and whistles they received from the players. Luckily this great photo was captured that day, providing a perfect update for the Bingo Home Page!
If you're a year round resident or brave summer visitor, please consider joining us every Tuesday for Bingo.....you won't be disappointed!
Let's Play Bingo!!
Totally styling in colorful bunny ears ready to wish players a Happy Easter pictured left to right above are:
Betty, Jan, Suzi, Mark, Carol, Joan and lead bunny Joanna who reported that 72 players attended Easter Bingo.
Some players joined the volunteers by donning rabbit ears while hunting for eggs under their table tops and splurging on cupcakes at intermission.
Two of Bingo's volunteers missing from the group photo were Angie (standing) and Jeanne (sitting). Early reports indicate they may have been looking for candid camera volunteer Marta who was tracking the Easter Bunny rumored to be on site somewhere in the Community Center.
As a local realtor holding the designation of Senior Real Estate Specialist, Jill is uniquely qualified to serve both senior and veteran communities. She informed the group about the upcoming "Retirements Next Step Workshop" as well as supplying more Easter Treats.......you can never have too many!
One of Mark's many other services he provides in the community is the current President of the Fountain Hills Civic and Cultural Association also known as I Love Fountain Hills. He told the group about the upcoming annual meeting of one of Fountain Hills' oldest organizations dating back to 1979 and its participation in the upcoming three day Flutter At The Fountain event. He provided colorful brochures outlining all the activities and opportunities to be included in the fun, festive and celebratory event.
Before Pronto Bingo began, Joanna reminded her posse of their primary purpose to serve, smile and set the stage for fun, food, and friendship while rounding up the best Bingo Players west of the ole "Mississipp"!
